Previews for the St Leger Festival Ladies Day fixtures, held on the second day of this great flat racing carnival:

Race 1 – E.B.F. crownhotel-bawtry.com Maiden Stakes – 2.00pm – 1 mile

Ladies Day presents a warm up race including fantastic equine athletes like Richard Hannon’s General Synod and Musawama from the stables of John Gosden. This race is open to two-year-old colts only and is a great way to get your racing spirits started for another fantastic St Leger Festival Day. Race 2 – DFS Handicap – 2.35pm – 1 mile, 2 furlong, 60 yards

Thoroughbreds over the age of three are getting together in this stayer showdown and punters across the nation are getting excited. Barron-trained Sirvino will be an interesting contender to watch, as he ran an excellent 2009 season; James Dunlop’s Spanish Duke, winner of the Bbag-sales.de Handicap at Newmarket in August, is also expected to make an impact at this year’s St Leger Festival. Race 3 – Waetherbys Insurance 300,000 2-Year-Old Stakes – 3.10pm – 6 furlong, 110 yards

This cast of unique two-year-old equine talents is headed by Wootoon Bassett, the unbeaten colt from Richard Fahey’s training stables. This colt has been performing great in his debut season and a St Leger Festival win is just what he would need to top off his year. But runners like the determined Chiswick Bey and Meehan-trained Murbeh will be doing their best to keep him from success. View the Racecard for the Waetherbys Insurance 300,000 2-Year-Old Stakes »

Race 4 – DFS Park Hill Stakes – Group 2 – 3.45pm – 1 mile, 6 furlong, 132 yards

A field of talented fillies’ aged three and older are set and ready to rock the track in honour of St Leger Ladies’ Day. US-bred Rumoush, who has been making a name for herself this season, will be competing in this event alongside Mark Johnston’s Lady Eclair and Richard Hannon’s Middle Club. Jockeys participating in this event include Kieren Fallon, Ryan Moore and William Buick. View the Racecard for the DFS Park Hill Stakes »

Race 5 – European Breeders’ Fund Carrie Red Fillies’ Nursery – 4.20pm – 6 furlong, 110 yards

Trainers from all around the country have been selecting their best two-year-old fillies for this St Leger Festival fixture. Runners like Belle Royale, No Poppy and Lov U Too will be taking to the track under Fred Norton, Dan Fentiman and Tim O’Shea respectively. This event is classified Class 2 and is a great opportunity to check out talents for next year’s three-year-old season. Race 6 – Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes – Listed – 4.55pm – 7 furlong

This listed fillies’ race will pitch the likes of Dever Dream, winner of the European Breeders’ Fund Fillies’ Handicap at Newmarket in July, and Pyrrha, winner of the Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield, against one another. The field is packed with talented starters and jockeys, so the Sceptre Stakes should make for an interesting sprinting event. View the Racecard for the Japan Racing Association Sceptre Stakes »

Race 7 – Meadowhall Fashion Handicap – 5.25pm – 6 furlong

The final race of the St Leger Festival Ladies’ Day is appropriately sponsored by Meadowhall Fashion and the line-up includes some rather fashionable contenders indeed. Piazza San Pietro, for example, won the Brighton Rocket Handicap in August, and Boogie Diva – trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam – proved her worth in the Beck Handicap in Windsor last month. With such a concentrated amount of girl power, this fixture will provide an explosive ending to Ladies’ Day. View the Racecard for the Meadowhall Fashion Handicap »
